The JEE mains exam will be conducted by the JEE apex board This exam is taken for admission into undergraduate engineering programmes in NITs IITs and other centrally funded institutions.
For admissions into these undergraduate engineering programmes in the participating institutions the merit list is prepared on the basis of your class 12th marks and your mains score.
40% weightage is given to school boards and the other 60% weightage is given to the JEE mains exam.
The Mains exam is also the eligibility test for the Advanced exam which only a selected group of toppers in the mains exams would be eligible to give.
The exam has to papers, Paper 1 and paper 2
Paper 1 is for admissions in BE/B.Tech. Courses and the paper 2 is for admission in B. Arch courses.
Breaking it down in the normal terms, If you are aspiring for engineering. I mean If you wish to pursue technical education degree like mechanical, electronics or computers then you have to opt for paper 1 and if you wish to purse Architecture and alike courses then you have to opt for the paper 2.
The application forms were available on the JEE main website from 15 November and will be there till 26 December those who have applied for examination. Their dates are announced and as per the announcement from the board the exams are scheduled to be held on the following dates.
